PlatformPJJ Protect

The battery is yours. So is how long it lasts.

PJJ Protect monitors cell health and degradation continuously, and runs an electro-healing routine built into CESS, so the asset you paid for still performs late in its life. Dispatch earns the savings; Protect looks after the thing earning them.

Why it matters to you, not to us

You fund the battery. Its decline is on your balance sheet.

Stated in every feasibility report
Asset lifeThe supplier projects 15 years; we model on 12 12 years
Degradation curveHow capacity is assumed to fall, year by year stated
End-of-life provisionWhat cell replacement is set aside for stated

A model that counts savings over many years without setting money aside to replace the cells is not a model worth acting on.

Under our model you own the hardware outright and we are paid a share of the savings. That puts the battery's health in an unusual place: every point of capacity it loses is a point of saving neither of us gets, and the cost of replacing it is yours.

So the degradation curve is not an appendix. It is an assumption in your financial model, stated alongside the tariff and the load profile, and it is one of the lines we report against every month. If the battery is ageing faster than the model said, you see it on the report rather than finding out at replacement time.

Protect is the part of CESS that keeps that line honest.

What it watches

Continuous, not quarterly.

These are the measures on the product's Battery Health screen. Each is tracked over time, not just read off once, because a trend is what tells you a cell is going wrong before it does.

Health Score

An overall state-of-health reading, graded into named tiers so a finance reader and an engineer see the same thing.

Thermal stability

Pack temperature trended across the day against a warning line. Heat is one of the main drivers of lost capacity.

Voltage stability

Pack voltage held against its operating band, with every excursion outside it counted.

Round-trip efficiency

How much of what goes in comes back out. A slow slide here is an early sign of ageing.

Longevity index

How the pack is tracking against the life it was modelled on.

State of charge

SOC history, so how hard the battery is being cycled is on the record, not inferred.

Alert thresholds

Limits that raise an alert when crossed, with the alert history kept.

Electro-healing

The maintenance routine below, run by CESS as part of the service.

Electro-healing

Low-current cycling, built into CESS.

Electro-healing is a routine of controlled, low-current cycling that smooths dendrite buildup in the cells. CESS schedules and runs it; you do not operate it, and it is not a separate product you buy.

Why it exists. Dendrites are small metallic growths that build up on cell surfaces with use. Left alone they take capacity with them.
Where you see it. It is a named feature on the Battery Health screen, alongside the measures above.

We do not put a number on how much life it adds.

Your feasibility report models the battery on its stated degradation curve, not on a promise that electro-healing will beat it. If the cells do better than the curve, the monthly report will show it.
The rest of CESS

One module does not run on its own.

PJJ Protect is one of four parts of the Cloud Energy Storage System. Each hands something to the next, and the savings come from all four running together.
